Colorful biplanes … the rumble of radial engines … formation
flying … they’re all part of the National Stearman Fly-In.
More than 100 Stearman airplanes and their pilots fly into the Galesburg Municipal Airport from all across the United States for the annual event.
Most of these veteran planes saw service as Army and Navy basic trainers during World War II. In fact, more military pilots learned to fly in the Stearman Model 75 than in any other trainer built before or after the war.
This special week celebrates the Stearman aircraft. Come and join in on the fun and festivities.
The Fly-In begins on Labor Day and goes through the following weekend.
