Community Center

The Community Center is a restored historic building that was once the Central Fire Station for the City of Galesburg. The building now houses offices for the City of Galesburg's Handivan Transportation System and the offices of VNA Community Services which is a not for profit agency that sponsors programing for services for senior citizens in Knox County. The building is also used by many groups, organizations and individuals for meetings, family get together, banquets wedding receptions etc., as well as, senior citizens programs like the New Horizons Meal Site.
Reservations
forms can be downloaded or picked up and reservations made at the Community
Center office Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m to 6:30
p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Reservation Fee
A $20.00 non-returnable reservation fee is required at the time that the
reservation is made. The reservation fee does not count toward the hourly
rental fee.
Rental Fee
The hourly rental fee is $10.00 per hour. This fee is due at the time of
the event.
Building Rules
1. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the building.
2. Regularly scheduled religious services are not permitted in the building.
3. Each group or individual using space in the building is responsible for cleaning up after the event is over. This allows us to keep our rental fees to a minimum.
Any damage done to the facility will be billed to the reserving party.
4. All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. The building attendant is not responsible for surpervising children.
5. Persons wishing to reserve the Community Center must be at least 21
years of age.
