Applications
Job Applications are accepted for jobs posted at our Web site or at the Illinois Department of Employment Security. If more than one job is posted, an application must be submitted for each position being applied for. Background Check
During the interview process all selected individuals will be asked to sign a letter allowing the Galesburg Police Department to conduct a background check. The background check is completed prior to making a job offer to an individual.
Residency
All personnel hired by the City are required to obtain residency within 20 miles of City Hall (see map) no later than 13 months after their first day of employment. No exceptions will be made to this requirement.
Contracts
Regular full-time City employees are either represented by one of three unions or are covered under a personnel policy for exempt employees. Current contracts are listed in the document center. The salary ordinance is updated as necessary and approved by City Council.
