Historic district properties to be documented as part of the Kellogg/Seminary overpass project
January 24, 2013 11:39 AM
The city has hired a consultant to document properties within the Galesburg Historic District that have not previously been documented. A brief summary of each property's history and type of architecture will be included along with a photograph. This work will complete the survey of the entire historic district. Earlier surveys to document property were done in 1990 and 2000.
Most of this work will take place along the western edge of the district to include the Academy Street area, between Mary Street and South Street. Other areas be documented are on West Fremont Street and a small area including Beecher Avenue and Willard Street off of East Losey Street. This information is being shared to alleviate any concerns residents may have at seeing photos of private property being taken by a non-government agency. Questions regarding this project can be directed to Wayne Carl, City Engineer, at 309/345-3623.
