Informational Public Meeting on "Lead in Drinking Water and Other Sources"

The City of Galesburg, U.S. E.P.A., Illinois E.P.A., and the Knox County Health Department will be holding an Informational Public Meeting on "Lead in Drinking Water and Other Sources"  on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 55 W. Tompkins Street, Galesburg IL. This will be an informational meeting with no formal presentation given, so the public can attend at any time between 6 p.m. and 8.m. to obtain the information. The agencies will have staff available to share information and answer questions.
 
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the community information on lead in drinking water and other sources. The City will be providing information on the City's water quality report, recent lead testing results, and steps residents can take to reduce their exposure to lead in drinking water. The City will also provide an update on the lead service line replacement project and the corrosion inhibitor program. Additionally, the Knox County Health Department will be providing information on lead in the environment, steps parents can take to reduce lead in a child's enviornemt, and information on blood lead level testing. Information will also be provided on a grant the City has received from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the remediation of lead hazards in homes.
