Weather permitting, Miller Trucking and Excavating plans to close S West Street from Knox to First Street beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 for storm sewer repair. They plan to have work complete by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 9th.

The Galesburg Police Department today announced it issued more than 300 citations during Illinois’ first distracted driving campaign. The increased enforcement was part of the national Distracted Driving Awareness Month effort supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Approximately 50 Galesburg High School students visited Galesburg City Hall on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 to learn about local government. The special event is funded by Galesburg Noon and Sunrise Rotary, and is part of civics coursework the students are undertaking. In addition to funding the program, the service clubs also provide a speaker for the yearly event to talk about the importance of community service.

Weather permitting, the Galesburg Sanitary District plans to close Brooks Street, from Lombard to Whitesboro, beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 for sanitary sewer repair. They plan to have work complete in approximately three weeks. One lane will be open to traffic during the evening and overnight hours (approximately 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.).

Route 150, north of Galesburg, is currently closed from Route 81 to Orion, due to a hazardous material spill. An alternate route should be taken.
