Galesburg's Entrepreneur, Business and Industry Network (EBI Network) announced it will be working with the University of Illinois' Business Innovation Services (BIS) to make a series of Workshops and Certification Programs available to the region's businesses. The offerings will include Six Sigma Certificate Programs, Lean Tools Workshops, Quality and Operations Workshops, and Professional Development.
The EBI Network's Global Strategies Director, Gary Camarano notes, "The U of I BIS has a powerful track record of success helping to build high-performing organizations in manufacturing, healthcare, municipalities, and financial services. Their goal is to promote a robust U.S. economy by helping organizations compete globally and profitably." Camarano added, "I'm excited we will be able to offer this valuable training to the region's businesses. What's really nice about this is that through a combination of U of I BIS and EBI Network grants many participating businesses will have access to this valuable training at little or no cost."
Mary Rose Hennessey, Executive Director of the U of I BIS explained, "With a professional staff of experts we specialize in organization-wide systematic improvement from top management strategy to hourly worker skills. Our most effective role is to help develop the potential within each organization to achieve a culture where constant improvement thrives. Our hallmark has been our ability to help organizations change and grow profitably."
Camarano added, "BIS was able to share with me evidence that there is a statistical correlation between the overall success of organizations and the level of high-quality training they provide to their employees. This, and having participated in two BIS programs, convinced me we have to make this training available to our businesses in the region. I am sure that helping our businesses with the tools to compete in the global economy will pay back big dividends down the road."
Galesburg Mayor Sal Garza said, "I'm a steadfast advocate for employment training and education as well as a past participant of such beneficial training. By connecting our region's businesses in these training programs, the EBI Network is contributing to the ground work for increased profitability in the region, which will lead to further job creation and essential job retention."
State Representative Don Moffitt (74th District) pronounced this, "An example of a collaboration that brings U of I resources to the local level. Having one of the nation's premiere universities on your side is hard to beat. I am happy to see this type of training being made available to our businesses here in our region."
The EBI Network will be releasing a full course offering and calendar in the very near future. Businesses interested in finding out more about this program, and other programs offered by the EBI Network to help businesses compete in today's global economy should contact Gary Camarano
