The purpose of Park Plaza is to serve the community and outlying areas as a facility in which activities promoting recreation, education and entertainment can be held. Park Plaza is not available to individuals or groups for private purposes, such as weddings, parties, or commercial endeavors designed to promote private interests.
Reservations
Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Forms can be picked up at the Community Center Office, 150 East Simmons Street between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Fees
There are no fees assessed to use Park Plaza except in cases where damage or inadequate clean-up has occurred.
Users may not charge a fee for participants.
Insurance
Any group wishing to reserve Park Plaza should comply with the City of Galesburg's policy for insurance. Call 309/345-3629 for more information regarding insurance for special events.
Scheduling
Scheduling is on a first come, first served basis. Late night functions neccesitate security and and supervision to be arranged by the user and approved by the Human Services Division, Galesburg Police Department and the Galesburg Downtown Council.
No single organization may use Park Plaza in excess of 4 times per calendar year.
Rules
Use of sound systems require approval by the Human Services Division.
Users are required to clean up the facility and properly dispose of any litter, brochures, food or other material immediately after use.
The sale of food or other items requires a vendor's permit which is available from the City Clerk's office. In addition, the Knox County Health Department will need to be contacted.
