Galesburg Transit
The City of Galesburg And Galesburg Transit have been partners since 1972. The City pays Galesburg Transit a monthly payment based upon their operating deficit and the previous years' expenses. The City receives Federal Section 5311 Operating Assistance and Illinois Downstate Operating Assistance. Fares, exterior advertising revenue and a local match provided by the City of Galesburg are additional sources used to fund the transit system.
There are four fixed bus routes with one-hour headways; meaning it will take up to an hour to reach the location a person left from. Service is provided Monday through Saturday 7:00am until 6:15pm.
Handivan is curbside transportation system operated by the City of Galesburg to provide accessible public transportation to individuals because of a permanent or temporary disability which severely restricts thier mobility.
Handivan provides non emergency lift equipped service to a variety of destinations within the City limits. Handivan does provide service to and from destination within Knox County under separate policy. For more information, call the Handivan office at 309/345-3686.
