The City Treasurer of the City of Galesburg is elected every four years at the same time as the Mayor and City Clerk.
Duties of the office are governed by Illinois State Statutes and Galesburg City Council Ordinances.
The City Treasurer is the Custodian of all City of Galesburg and Fire & Police Pension Funds.
The Office of City Treasurer receives all funds on a daily basis, distributes appropriate receipts and deposits such monies in the designated financial institution.
The City Treasurer is required to sign all disbursement checks as lawfully prepared by the Finance Director.
The City Treasurer, in conjunction with the City Clerk and the Finance Director, is responsible for publishing the Annual Treasurer's Report, listing yearly receipts and disbursements.
