Arrests made in recent graffiti run

May 7, 2012 01:51 PM
Early Saturday morning, May 5, 2012, officers responded to the South Street underpass on a report of two individuals spray painting the underpass walls. Witnesses described the suspects as Caucasian males in dark clothing carrying a back pack. Officers established a perimeter and began a thorough search of the area. Officers located two men matching the witness description in the 300 block of South Kellogg Street. The pair smelled of fresh paint, had paint on their hands and spray paint was found in a nearby backpack. Officers found fresh paint "tags" on the underpass walls. Each of the men claimed a certain "tag" and with that information officers linked the suspects with 21 previously reported graffiti cases in Galesburg.
Joseph C. Brown, 210 Allens Avenue and Michael A. Brackett, 1095 North West Street, both of Galesburg and both 25 years of age were each charged with a felony, Criminal Defacement of Property. The investigation continues.
