City breaks ground on second grade separation

September 20, 2013 02:18 PM
We’re gearing up for another grade separation! The first one was held in 2011 for the Don Moffitt Overpass located on West Main Street. That completed project has made a huge impact on how traffic flows in Galesburg. The second overpass is about to get underway and we’d like you to be a part of it. A ground breaking ceremony for the Seminary/Kellogg Street overpass is scheduled for Friday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the vacant lot east of 311 E. Water Street (between Seminary and Kellogg Streets) in Galesburg.
As you know, these grade separations have been a Galesburg legislative priority for many years. The enhanced safety and traffic flow that will be afforded with each of these separations is greatly anticipated and will be appreciated by Galesburg residents and visitors for many generations. The third, and final grade separation, is anticipated to break ground sometime in 2014.
