Interviews, Background Checks and Pre-employment Examinations
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications of a position may be selected for an interview. Once a candidate is selected, a conditional offer of employment is extended. All offers of full time employment are contingent upon the applicant's successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination that includes a drug test, verification of prior employment and education, and a background check. The pre-employment examincation, background check, and verifications are not completed until after a conditional offer of employment has been extended.
Residency
All personnel hired by the City are required to obtain residency within 20 miles of City Hall no later than 13 months after their first day of employment. A residency requirement map is located on the right side of this page.
Hiring Policy
Only one person from a family (defined as a spouse, parent, stepparent, sibling, child or stepchild) may be employed by the City within the same department.
