City offers options for clean up of downed limbs from recent storm

Standish Park Arboretum storm damage.
The early morning storm on September 8 left behind many downed limbs in the city of Galesburg. The city will make available the oversized brush drop off facility at 636 Pickard Road (just west of Farm King) all week long beginning Tuesday, September 10 through Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those residents to dispose of large tree limbs. After this period, regular days of operation on Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will resume.
Beginning Monday, September 16, city crews will pick up tree limb storm debris at the curb.  Tree limbs must be stacked at the curb before September 16 to ensure pick up.  Residents may stack large limbs at the curb, away from any power poles, cable boxes or fire hydrants for pick up by city crews. This curbside pick up service is for tree and limb storm debris disposal only. The curbside pick up coincides with the city's Fall Clean Up Days and care should be taken to separate the storm debris from household solid waste.
In addition, only tree and limb storm debris from that property should be left at the curb. Tree cutting services depositing limbs from other properties at the curb will not be picked up.
Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at 309/345-2623.
