On Friday, October 21st city administration and economic development staff had the opportunity to attend a free lecture given by Richard C. Longworth, author of the book Caught in the Middle: America’s Heartland in the Age of Globalism. Longworth’s address was part of the Midwest Matters initiative at Monmouth College and centered on ways rural Midwest communities can stay relevant in our 21st-century, globalized economy.
Also in attendance at the event was Jack Schultz, author of Boomtown USA: The 7-1/2 Keys to Big Success in Small Towns.
Following the lecture Galesburg representatives had the honor of speaking with Longworth and Schultz, both of whom were excited to learn of Galesburg’s recent progress on the economic front.
