August 5, 2013 02:25 PM

Ryan Lilly, manager of the Entrepreneurship Center of West Central Illinois, will serve-out his last day Friday, August 16, after working 2.5 years as an employee of the economic development department at the city of Galesburg. During his term, Lilly along with members of the EBI Network worked to attract and grow both startups and existing businesses at an incubator, in the city, and throughout a four-county region.

Throughout his 32 month tenure, Lilly participated in over 243 counseling sessions resulting in 7 grants being awarded and the creation of 17 new businesses (home-based, small-businesses, and startups). Lilly also played a role in wider economic development initiatives, and was part of a team effort that created and/or retained over 1,100 jobs.

"It has been an honor to be a part of this progressive effort to prepare and position West Central Illinois for a new 21st century economy," said Lilly. "The innovative businesses found at our incubator are proof that Galesburg can attract and grow the kind of companies that are usually only found in larger metro areas. A healthy, diversified economy demands we support traditional small businesses as well as high-tech startups. I am confident Galesburg will continue excellence in service to both."

"Ryan has been an important team member and of great assistance in working with our partners on entrepreneurship efforts," said Cesar Suarez, economic development Director for the city of Galesburg. "His departure will pose challenges for us and we will work with our partners to continue the excellent level of service he provided."

Ryan Lilly has accepted a position as Director of Business Creation for the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership in Ocala, Florida.  For more information on programs available to assist new and existing businesses, contact Cesar Suarez.
