Galesburg, IL (August 13, 2019)     Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be in Knox County tomorrow conducting preliminary damage assessments of individual homeowner properties.   This is the next step in evaluating damage caused by flooding and excessive rainfall earlier this year that led to Governor Pritzker’s Disaster Proclamation involving 36 Illinois counties.  FEMA representatives will be evaluating 32 incidents of damage reported to Knox County EMA by residents.  Homeowners who have reported damage may be receiving a phone call and FEMA may be making some on-site visits.  There has not yet been a Federal Disaster Declaration by the President that would release funding for this Illinois event. For more information, contact Chief Simkins.
