Fire Department

GFD does not fill swimming pools.
However, here are some options for filling your swimming pool include:

  • Fill the pool from your garden hose, standard water rates apply.
  • Fill a tank at the bulk water station, located at W Fourth and S Henderson Street. Water can be purchased at this location using a credit or debit card, and the resident is required to provide their own hose and tank. Bulk water rates apply.

Installing a swimming pool with water over 24 inches deep requires a permit(s) and a barrier. Please review the Swimming Pool Guidelines and complete the online application through the permit portal.

Some fire extinguishers can be inspected and recharged by a certified fire equipment dealer. Galesburg Fire does not have an affiliation or recommendations for any local fire equipment dealers or services. The easiest way to locate a service company is to do a web search for "fire extinguisher recharging" or "fire extinguisher recharging near me".

Some lower cost fire extinguishers made of plastic or aluminum cannot be serviced or recharged.

The Galesburg Fire Department does not inspect, recharge, or accept fire extinguishers for recycling.
