Lake Storey Beach offers a lakefront area to enjoy swimming and boating during the summer months.

Lake Storey Beach is an unguarded "swim at your own risk" location - there are not lifeguards on duty at the beach. Swimming is only permitted during the listed open hours, and only in the designated roped off area. Anyone under the age of 16 MUST be supervised by someone 16 years of age or older.

- Alcohol is prohibited anywhere in Lake Storey Park.
- The beach and lake are closed for 30 minutes following any lightning or thunder.

Paddle boats (2 & 4 person), stand-up paddleboards, youth & adult kayaks, tandem kayaks and canoes are available. Patrons must be 16 years old or older with a valid id to rent a boat. Patrons must wear provided life jackets.
FEE: $14 per hour per boat (canoe, kayak, paddleboat, stand up paddleboard)$20 per hour per boat (tandem kayak)

Personal canoes, kayaks, jon boats and small sail boats may be used on the lake. The City of Galesburg only allows electric trolling motors on Lake Storey, gas power motors may not be used. All watercraft powered by machinery (this includes trolling motors) or sail are required to be registered in Illinois. Non-powered boats, such as kayaks, are not required to be registered in Illinois.
- In case of severe weather/heavy rain happening at the moment or in the forecast and there are zero beach patrons and boat rentals, the beach may close early.
- If you are on the water in a rented boat and severe weather is occurring or imminent, you will be instructed to return to the dock and will seek shelter according to staff instruction. Vouchers may be issued at staff discretion.
- If you are in the water swimming and severe weather is occurring or imminent, you will be instructed to get out of the water and will seek shelter according to staff direction. Staff will let you back in the water when the severe weather has passed and they have determined that it is safe to be in the water.
- No one may be in the water swimming or in a boat when lightning/thunder is in the area, and must stay out of the water until staff says that it is safe to return to the water.
