Serve Your Community: City Boards & Commissions

Local government works best when community members get involved! The City of Galesburg invites residents to share their time, expertise, and perspectives by serving on one of our advisory boards or commissions.

By volunteering, you play a vital role in shaping city policies, guiding local development, and improving the quality of life across Galesburg.

How It Works:

  • Appointments: Members are recommended by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

  • Responsibilities: Board duties and guidelines are outlined in Chapter 2, Article VII of the Galesburg Municipal Code.

  • Qualifications: Most positions simply require local residency and a desire to serve your community.

How to Apply:

Whether you're a seasoned professional, a passionate community advocate, or a student looking to make a difference, we welcome your application!

  • Adult Applicants (Ages 18+): Complete the online application to express interest in any open commission position.

  • Youth Applicants (Ages 13–18): Get involved early by applying to serve on the Youth Commission.
Please note: We are working on an exciting, refreshed format for the Galesburg Youth Commission! The program is currently undergoing a new evaluation to build a bigger and better platform for young leaders. Stay tuned for updates and new application details coming soon!
