Knox County residents urged to report damage due to flooding

Following the recent Disaster Proclamation by Governor Quinn due to severe flooding, the Knox County Emergency Management Agency (KCEMA) and the City of Galesburg are conducting a preliminary survey of home and property damage in the county for submittal to Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) for the Individual Assessment Program. This program is designed to address damage to uninsured personal property in homes and businesses. The results of the survey will be forwarded to IEMA and will help determine if Federal disaster assistance can be made available to homeowners and businesses.

KCEMA must act fast to report total damages in order to meet the May 1 deadline. Knox County residents are urged to call the KCEMA at 309/345-3756 before noon on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, to report any uninsured home or property damage. Residents should be prepared to provide name and contact information as well as an overview and estimated dollar amount of the damage or loss.

IEMA has prepared an FAQ sheet for residents to answer the most asked questions.
