Lake Storey Fall Draw Down
Galesburg, IL ( October 8, 2015)  The City of Galesburg Park Division will host the eleventh annual Lake Storey fall clean-up day on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers are being asked to help clean up the shoreline.
Lake Storey is drawn down each fall to help grow the fish population. The low water level provides an excellent opportunity to pick up the trash and debris that has accumulated along the shore.
Volunteers are encouraged to gather any time before noon at the warming shelter near the east boat ramp, the shelter is located just off of North Henderson Street (U.S. Route 150). A hold harmless form must be completed by all volunteers the day of the clean up. Volunteers are asked to wear boots or hard soled shoes, trash bags and refreshments will be provided.
Lake Storey Park is a 411 acre community recreation facility on the north side of Galesburg, and includes playgrounds, ball fields, a beach, a campground, a multipurpose trail and the 130 acre lake known for its excellent fishing and boating opportunities. This is an outstanding opportunity for nature enthusiasts, boy scouts, girl scouts, and other community service organizations to help preserve and enhance one of the area's most beautiful natural treasures.
