August 2, 2016 09:10 AM
The wind storm on July 10, 2016  left many downed limbs in the City of Galesburg, mainly north of Main Street. The City began picking up residential debris on July 18 and has completed picking up the residential areas north of Main Street and has scheduled all pickups for residential areas south of Main Street.
Any remaining material will not be picked up by City staff and will need to be hauled by the resident to the City's oversize brush drop off facility or placed at the curb to be picked up by Waste Management. The City's oversize brush drop off facility is located at 636 Pickard Road and is open to residents on Friday or Saturday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Drop-off by contractors is not allowed. Yard waste left at the curb for pickup by Waste Management may consist of leaves, grass, shrub clippings, garden waste, brush and woody material and must be contained in a paper yard waste bag or a trash container designated for yard waste. Longer limbs may be tied with degradable twine, but must be less than 5 feet long and weigh no more than 50 lbs. In order to be picked up at the curb, limbs cannot exceed 5 inches in diameter. Pickup of yard waste will occur with residents trash pickup.
