New business headed for the Business Technology Center

When Josh Knuth, CEO and founder of Alan Environmental Products, Inc. started looking for a distribution facility in West Central Illinois for his growing business, a friend suggested he contact Galesburg’s EBI Network and the Sustainable Business Center for help. He did and after a few meetings he found a new location for his distribution center at the Galesburg Business Technology Center on the Carl Sandburg College campus. According to Eric Dilts, Director of the SBC, "When it became apparent that Alan Environmental wasn’t a good fit for the SBC, we contacted a few other possible locations in Galesburg, and were able to put Mr. Knuth in touch with the Galesburg BTC. Our partners at the BTC were able to accommodate Mr. Knuth’s business plans, and we were able to deliver a win-win-win situation – a new business for Galesburg, a fantastic facility for Alan Environmental and helping the BTC find a new tenant. This was truly a collaborative effort."
Alan Environmental, a distributor of cleaning supplies and industrial chemicals, specializing in water treatment, will initially operate a distribution and sales office from the BTC, and may also start manufacturing product here in the future. "Rumor was that Galesburg was not a business friendly environment, but I found the opposite to be true. The EBI Network was extremely professional and able to put me in the BTC quickly. Between the BTC’s and the EBI Network’s actions I have to say that Galesburg appears to be a great place to do business."
Sherry Foster, BTC Director said, "We’re very excited to have Alan Environmental here for a variety of reasons. Obviously, it’s great to help a new business locate in Galesburg, and hopefully grow in the BTC incubator. We are also pleased that Mr. Knuth was originally from Galesburg and attended Carl Sandburg College. He has moved back home from Florida and we look forward to helping him achieve his business goals."
Mr. Knuth added, "I’m very happy with the outcome, and look forward to growing my business here. Our initial plan is to hire four individuals and hopefully more as we grow. The city has programs we can take advantage of to reach those goals." Mr. Knuth will be working closely with the EBI’s Entrepreneurship Center’s Ryan Lilly, a specialist in small business planning. Lilly commented that he is "very confident that the city will be able to provide the technical and financial help if needed to grow this business."
Alan Environmental has begun the process of moving into its space at the BTC.
