New Technology for Public Service Requests

March 15, 2019 03:26 PM
The City of Galesburg will soon unveil a new mobile app and web-based system that will enable anyone to report problems and issues from any browser, smartphone or tablet called PSR (Public Service Request) and is available now in Google Play as well as iTunes.
Designed by Public Service Request, LLC, this system will track the history of citizens requests, responses, and any follow-up communication that is requested. Citizens may also submit issues anonymously and even submit photos. The system will be used by the public, City Council, and internal City staff for managing departmental service requests and work orders and will help to ensure continued feedback through completion.
Kelli Bennewitz, City Clerk, stated that the City will host three public informational meetings on PSR. All meetings will be held at City Hall in the Erickson Conference Room.

"We hope this app and process will make it more convenient for residents to inform us of an issue or problem," she said. "Many times people don’t have the time in their day to call the City and this will allow reporting to be done on their schedule 24/7." She noted that the system has a dynamic reporting feature that will enable the City to provide a high level of service commitment to all constituents.
"The idea behind the Public Service Request system was to make local government more accessible, especially to the modern tech-savvy residents who may use social media sites and their mobile devices everyday," said Todd Thompson, City Manager.
Both Thompson and Bennewitz noted that they hope this new app and web-based system will allow for better communication and responses between the residents and City staff to help make Galesburg a better place to live.
