Lake Storey Park and Lincoln Park restrooms will be closed, effective immediately, for winterization due to cold temperatures. The restroom facilities at all other Parks in Galesburg have already been closed for the winter season. Park facilities will reopen in the Spring.

WIRC staff will be available at Galesburg City Hall from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on November 5th to help citizens interested in applying for the Help Eliminate Lead Program. They will accept applications, help with the completion of applications and answer any questions.

Weather permitting, United Contractors Midwest will be closing Cherry Street on the north side of Main Street and the westbound outside lane of Main Street at the intersection beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 for pavement repair.  They anticipate work to be complete by the end of the day on Friday, October 25, 2019.

Weather permitting, Gunther Construction will be closing Parking Lot M located at 362 E Simmons Street on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:00 a.m. for resurfacing work.  They anticipate work to be complete at the end of the day on Friday, October 25th.

BNSF closed the railroad crossing on East Fremont Street, between Morton Avenue and Rock Island Avenue, on Monday, October 7, 2019 for crossing repair. Work is scheduled to conclude by the end of the day on Monday, October 14, and the crossing will be open to traffic by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

The Galesburg Police Department (GPD) will be participating in a charity basketball game against Illinois State Police to raise funds for the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter. The game will be held at Galesburg High School, 1135 W. Fremont Street, in the Thiel Gymnasium on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 6:00 p.m.

The City of Galesburg has been awarded a DCEO Help Eliminate Lead Program Grant. Grant monies will be used for Lead Hazard Remediation in approximately 200 low-to-moderate-income privately-owned, owner-occupied and rental units throughout the community. The City of Galesburg will hold an informational meeting on October 22, 2019, at 5:00 pm, at Galesburg City Hall, Council Chambers, 55 West Tompkins Street, to introduce the program.
