Weather permitting, Hood Demolition and Excavation will be closing North Academy Street from Ferris Place to approximately 247 North Academy Street beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019. They plan to have this section closed until early September for road reconstruction.

Mulch and compost are available to Galesburg residents free of charge at the oversized brush drop-off site, located at 636 Pickard Road, just west of Farm King on West Main Street. The products are available to pick up during the facilities operating hours, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., seasonally. The facility operates mid-March through mid-November each year. Mulch and compost are provided on a self-serve basis and residents should bring their own shovel to load the material.

The Illinois Power Agency recently announced that they have allocated the adjustable block program discretionary capacity to ensure all distributed generation solar energy projects submitted prior to the February 2019 deadline will be accepted into the Long-term Renewable Resource Procurement plan. The 2018 assessment notices were mailed and changes published in The Register-Mail on Friday, December 28, 2018. The deadline for a taxpayer to file a complaint to the Knox County Board of Review is Tuesday, January 29, 2019. The completed complaint form must be filed in one of the Assessor's offices no later than 4 P.M. If a taxpayer would like to file an appeal, he/she can get the appeal form and complaint procedures from the document section of the website or the Assessor's office.
