The City Assessor's Office (Town of the City of Galesburg Township Assessor)
The Assessor's Office is open to the public.  Due to social distancing guidelines only three people are allowed in the office at the same time and visitors are required to wear a mask.  You can call the office to schedule an appointment to see the Assessor or complete an exemption application.  If you come to the office without an appointment and there are three people in the office, you will have to wait outside until someone leaves and office staff notify you that you may enter the office.
The Knox County Chief County Assessment Office mailed exemption renewal applications in February.  The deadline for renewing exemptions is September 30, 2020.  There is still plenty of time to renew exemptions for 2020.  The completed exemption application and required documentation can also be submitted by mail.  If you need to file an exemption for the first time in 2020, you have all year to complete the exemption.
Many questions may be handled by phone.  We are asking that you call the office at 309-342-1106 with questions rather than come to the office.  Office visits are reserved for people who need to renew exemptions.
