The Galesburg Police Department Releases Thanksgiving Enforcement Mobilization Numbers

November 29, 2016 04:43 PM
The Galesburg Police conducted enforcement from November 14 - 27, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, both day and night, during the Click It or Ticket mobilization. The Galesburg Police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.
During the mobilization, Galesburg Police issued:
  • 5 seat belt citations
  • 3 DUI arrests
  • 3 suspended/revoked license
  • 11 uninsured motorists
  • 5 speeding citations
  • 9 other traffic citations
  • 1 drug arrest
The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Galesburg, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt.
"Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the violation," says Lt. Russell Idle.
This law enforcement mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns. For more information, visit
