The Galesburg Police Department Urges Public to Make a Game Plan for Super Bowl Sunday: Are you Drinking or Driving?

January 23, 2018 03:39 PM
The Galesburg Police Department announced today it will conduct special patrols this Super Bowl weekend to keep impaired drivers off the roads and encourage more people to wear their seat belts. The messages are familiar and simple: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket.
"We need your help to keep alochol and drug-impaired drivers off our roads," said Lt. Russ Idle. "All it takes is a game plan. Before you go to the party, decide if you're drinking or driving -- never do both."
"We will also be checking for compliance with seat belt laws," Lt. Idle said, "so remember to buckle up."
The Galesburg Police will be conducting targeted saturation patrols focusing on occupant restraint, impaired driving, and distracted driving during the Super Bowl weekend. The Super Bowl enforcement effort is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
