Weekly Yard Waste Collection

March 4, 2021 03:42 PM
Weekly curbside yard waste collection has resumed for Galesburg citizens. Yard waste is collected weekly on residents' normal refuse pick-up day March through November, and monthly during December, January, and February.
Yard waste consists of leaves, grass, shrub clippings, garden waste, brush, and woody material and must be contained in a paper yard waste bag or a trash container designated for yard waste. In order to be picked up at the curb, limbs must be less than 5 feet long, cannot exceed 5 inches in diameter, and weigh no more than 50 lbs. Residents may not burn yard waste or put it in the street.
The city also provides a brush drop-off site for larger limbs or large quantities of woody yard waste. The oversized brush and limb drop-off is located at 636 Pickard Road, just west of Farm King, and is open seasonally from the third Friday in March through the third Sunday in November. Operating hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mulch and compost are also available to Galesburg residents free of charge at the oversized limb drop-off and can be picked up during the facilities operating hours. Mulch and compost are provided on a self-serve basis and residents should bring their own shovel to load the material.
More information on yard waste pick-up, refuse, and recycling programs can be found on the City's website.
